Hiking Experiences

Having worked on the hiking network of Ios for many years, maintaining and promoting it, we have the ability to provide you with high quality tours. Join us on tour  in the countryside or in the alleys of Ios, get to know the history of the island and enjoy  a unique experience.

Suggested Hiking Experiences

1. Gialos beach, Skarkos, Village, Windmills, Port via the old route

During  this hike the visitor will walk from the port of Ios to the prehistoric settlement of Skarkos and will learn about the history, traditions and customs of the island. He will admire unique landscapes and walk along the traditional paths, reaching Chora of Ios. He will return to the port by the traditional path

Distance: 3,7 km

Duration: 3 hours (optional visit at Skarkos archailogical site)

2. The churches at Chora (optional visit at Folklore or Archaeological museum)

Join us on a hike through the alleys and churches of Chora and learn about its well-hidden secrets, customs and traditions.

3. Chora, Skarkos archaeological site, Hellinica, Hagia Triada, Hagios Prokopis, Hagios Spyridon, Chora.

This route is ideal for lovers on nature. We will start from Chora of Ios and after passing by the prehistoric settlement of Skarkos we will move in a circular direction observing the nature and admiring the landscape. We will get to know the customs and traditions of the place and learn old stories from the locals.

4. Chora, Odysseus Elytis theatre, Diaseli cheese factory, back to Chora from the same route

A challenging route, that will reward the guest with the amazing  landscape and the visit to the dairy. We will start from Chora and move towards the Odysseas Elytis Theatre, where we will admire Mylopotas beach. We will move in a circular path and we will meet old houses and churches, witnesses of another era. We will stop for a tasting at the traditional Diaseli Cheese Factory and after enjoying fresh cheese and wine, we will return to Chora by path, admiring Mylopotas.

E-Bike Experiences Provided

1. Chora, prehistoric settlement of Skarkos, Homer’s tomb, Chora

Starting from Chora we will visit the prehistoric settlement  of Skarkos, where we will talk about the history and traditions of the island. We will leave our bicycles and walk for a few meters to admire the traditional path. Then we will take our bikes and cycle towards Homer’s tomb where, according to tradition, the great poet was buried. We will return to Chora from the area of Pano Kampos admiring the landscape.

Approximately 30 km, 3-4 hours. Includes the bike tour. Refreshments, local snacks are provided, as well as a cotton bag. Price 100€ person

2. Chora, prehistoric settlement of Skarkos, Diaseli Cheesery (extra cost of 25€)

Starting from Chora we will visit the archaeological site of Skarkos where we will talk about the history and traditions of the island. We will leave our bicycles and walk for a few meters to admire the traditional path. Then we will take our bikes and cycle to Diaseli traditional Cheesery for cheese tasting. We will return to Chora from the area of Pano Kampos admiring the landscape. Approximately 30 km, 3-4 hours. Includes the bike tour. Refreshments, local snacks are provided, as well as a cotton bag: 100€ person

Starting from Chora, we will visit the prehistoric settlement of Skarkos where we will talk about the history and traditions of the island. We will leave our bicycles and walk for a few meters to admire the traditional path. We will then cycle towards Homer’s tomb where according to tradition the great poet was buried. We will visit Diaseli traditional Cheesery for cheese tasting and return to Chora from the area of Pano Kampos admiring the landscape.

Approximately 40 km, 5-6 hours. Includes the bike tour. Refreshments, local snacks are provided, as well as a cotton bag: 120€ άτομο / person

 1. Chora, Homer’s tomb, Palaiokastro Byzantine Castle, Diaseli Cheesery for cheese tasting, Chora

Starting from Ios Village we will drive to the Plakotos area where according to tradition, the great poet Homer was buried. We will then visit Palaiokastro where we will talk about the history and traditions of the island. Finally, we will  taste delicious cheese, at the traditional Diaseli Cheesery and we will return to Ios Village,  where we will wonder around its alleys.

Approximately 5,5 hours, price: 350€, extra fee of 25€ per person for cheese tasting

 

2. Chora, Homer’s tomb, Diaseli Cheesery for cheese tasting, Chora

Starting from Ios Village we will drive to the Plakotos area where according to tradition, the great poet Homer was buried. We will then visit the traditional Diaseli Cheesery for cheese tasting, admiring the landscape en route. We will then return to Ios Village, where we will wonder around its alleys.

Approximately 4 hours, price: 300€, extra fee of 25€ per person for cheese tasting

 

3. Chora, Diaseli Cheesery, Odysseus Elytis Theatre, Chora

Starting from Ios Village, we will begin our journey on the island by tasting cheese and wine at Diaseli Traditional Cheesery. We will then drive towards the traditional village of Ios and stop at  Odysseas Elytis Theatre in order to admire the view. We will visit the traditional settlement of Ios Village and explore the alleys.

Approximately 3 ώρες: 250€, extra fee of 25€ per person for cheese tasting
