Gaïtis – Simossi Museum
The Gaïtis – Simossi Museum, dedicated to the work of painter Yannis Gaïtis and sculptor Gabriella Simossi, was created through the partnership of the Municipality of Ios and Loretta Gaïtis, the sole heir and intellectual property rights holder of the two artists.
The Museum is housed in a 1,600 square meter building complex, meticulously designed by architects Loretta Gaïtis and Jacques Charrat to host the permanent exhibition of the two artists, as well as parallel, temporary exhibitions and events.
It is built at the top of a hill, offering a panoramic view of the Chora and the port of Ios, as well as the islands of Sikinos, Paros, and Naxos, set against the boundless blue expanse of the Aegean Sea.
The Gaïtis – Simosi Museum has as its main objective the promotion and showcasing of the work of the two artists, both nationally and internationally. At the same time, the Museum aspires to function as a contemporary, sustainable cultural institution, actively engaging the community and embracing inclusivity.
Through a rich array of activities and experiences – such as temporary exhibitions, cultural events, and educational programs – the museum aims to be a vibrant hub of culture and creativity.

Μουσείο Γαΐτη – Σίμωσι
Το Μουσείο Γαΐτη – Σίμωσι, αφιερωμένο στο έργο του ζωγράφου Γιάννη Γαΐτη και της γλύπτριας Γαβριέλλας Σίμωσι, δημιουργήθηκε μέσα από τη σύμπραξη του Δήμου Ιητών με την Λορέττα Γαΐτη, μοναδική κληρονόμο και πνευματικό δικαιούχο των δύο καλλιτεχνών.
Στεγάζεται σε ένα μοναδικής αρχιτεκτονικής κτιριακό συγκρότημα, έκτασης 1600 τ.μ., το οποίο σχεδιάστηκε από τους αρχιτέκτονες Λορέττα Γαΐτη και Ζακ Σαρά για να φιλοξενήσει τη μόνιμη έκθεση των δύο καλλιτεχνών καθώς και παράλληλες, περιοδικές εκθέσεις και εκδηλώσεις. Είναι κτισμένο στην κορυφή ενός λόφου, με πανοραμική θέα στη Χώρα και το λιμάνι της Ίου και τα νησιά Σίκινο, Πάρο και Νάξο, ενώ – όταν ο καιρός το επιτρέπει – διακρίνονται η Μήλος και η
Σίφνος με φόντο το απέραντο γαλάζιο του Αιγαίου.
Το Μουσείο Γαΐτη – Σίμωσι έχει ως βασικό του στόχο την προώθηση και ανάδειξη του έργου των δύο καλλιτεχνών, τόσο σε εθνικό όσο και σε διεθνές επίπεδο.
Παράλληλα, φιλοδοξεί να λειτουργήσει ως ένας σύγχρονος και αειφόρος πολιτιστικός οργανισμός, ο οποίος θα ενσωματώνει ενεργά την κοινότητα, χωρίς αποκλεισμούς. Μέσα από ένα πλούσιο φάσμα δράσεων και εμπειριών – όπως περιοδικές εκθέσεις, πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις και εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα – το μουσείο επιδιώκει να αποτελεί έναν ζωντανό πυρήνα πολιτισμού και δημιουργίας.
